Say what the pump serves (rotary evaporation, filtration, drying or degassing) and which solvents or acids pass through it. Chemistry diaphragm pumps have fluoroplastic wetted parts for exactly this, but the solvent list still decides whether a vapour trap or a condenser belongs in the set.

Take the ultimate vacuum (in mbar) and the pumping speed (in m³/h) from the manufacturer specification of each model and compare them with what your solvent and vessel need. A pump that only just reaches the boiling pressure of a solvent evaporates it slowly.
