Product description
The DR3900 measures transmittance, absorbance and concentration, and has a scanning mode. Hach lists more than 240 preprogrammed methods and room for 100 user programs; when a method is selected, the instrument sets the wavelength automatically.
With Hach TNTplus vial tests, the instrument reads the 2D barcode on the vial to identify the method, then rotates the vial for 10 absorbance readings that are averaged. Hach states that this excludes the effect of scratches and fingerprints on the glass. Hach also states that the 2D barcode supplies the reagent lot number and expiry date, which are logged with each result.
Hach specifies a wavelength accuracy of ±1.5 nm and a photometric measuring range of ±3.0 Abs, both over 340 to 900 nm, with a 5 nm spectral bandwidth and a gas-filled tungsten lamp. Hach lists rectangular cells of 10 mm, 50 mm and 1 inch and round cells of 13 mm, 16 mm and 1 inch as compatible.
The data logger keeps 2000 measured values with result, date, time, sample ID and user ID. Connections are two USB type A ports, one USB type B port and Ethernet, and the display is a 7-inch color touchscreen. Hach lists 25 interface languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean; Thai is not among them.
RFID features (method updates, sample ID and certificates of analysis read by RFID) are not available on this model. Hach's RFID versions carry other product numbers (LPV440.99.00012 on Hach's US site, LPV440.99.00001 on Hach's UK site), and Hach offers RFID only in certain countries.
Hach supplies the DR3900 with cell adapter A (for 1-inch round and 1 cm square cells), a light shield, a dust cover, a printed basic user manual and a benchtop power supply (110 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz) with power cords. Hach's US product page also lists a matched pair of 1-inch square glass sample cells and 115 V and 230 V cords, but the packing list in Hach's 2025 user manuals has no sample cells and names US and GB cords, so confirm the sample cells and plug type in the quotation. Reagents and TNTplus vial tests are not in any of these lists.
